I am excited to announce that my new book, The Age of AI: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humanity, is now officially available for pre-order with most major book retailers. The book will release next March with Zondervan Publishers. I wrote it to help all of us navigate our digital age as we explore the social, moral, and ethical challenges of our ongoing interactions with artificial intelligence (AI).
Artificial intelligence is everywhere and drives so much of our society, often without our knowledge or thought. Famed computer scientist and futurist, Ray Kurzweil says in his book How to Create a Mind that “if all of the AI systems decided to go on strike tomorrow, our civilization would be crippled: We couldn’t get money from our bank, and indeed, our money would disappear; communication, transportation, and manufacturing would all grind to a halt.” AI also drives what we see on social media, how we shop, and soon enough may even drive us around.
But for all of the great benefits of this revolutionary technology, AI also causes us to ask more fundamental questions about things like the value and nature of work, how to best use AI in medicine, and even how these technologies are changing the ways that we relate with one another and God.
As we ask these difficult questions about the nature of God, man, and technology, it is important to remember that Christians do not need to engage these tough issues with fear. We can ask these hard questions and know that God is sovereign over all of creation. The truth is that AI doesn’t cause us to ask new existential questions per se, but to ask the same age old questions in light of new technological opportunities.
I would be honored if you would pre-order the book now online at the links below.
